PACK 55 CUB SCOUTS GREAT FALLS, VA

ADVENTURE IS  EVERYWHERE!

Please see our new site.
Pack 55 Cub Scouts in Great Falls, Virginia, welcomes all children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  We generally reach youths from Forestville Elementary and welcome all youth from other area schools, as well as home school students.

ABOUT

Cub Scouting is a year-round Family Program, it requires parents to volunteer—the parents and their children benefit from the program together, as they build a stronger bond with each other, other scout families as well as with their communities. Scouts earn badges and have adventures!

During the summer, we meet about once a month for hiking, one overnight campout, or a bike ride, and are participating in the Great Falls July 4th ceremony.  During the school year, the dens (each grade) meet one Thursday a month, the pack (all the dens) meet another Thursday a month, and the pack has a weekend outdoor group activity, including the pinewood derby, raingutter regatta, hiking, frisbee golf, and Utterback Store Road cleanup. We have also been invited by Troop 55 to join in on some of their outdoor activities. Every scout needs an adult with them during all scouting events.

YOUTH PROTECTION

SCOUT SAFETY

Every scout is required to have an adult with them during all scouting events

All volunteers must complete a rigorous application and screening process before joining Scouting. As part of this requirement, applicants must provide references and submit to a national criminal background check. BSA also verifies that the organization has not received any prior allegations of misconduct on the volunteer’s part by checking names in the Ineligible Volunteer Files. BSA’s goal is to ensure that all adult volunteers represent the values and character outlined in the Scout Oath and Scout Law and are good leaders for youth.

All volunteers are required to complete Youth Protection Training and must renew the training every two years.

Every Boy Scout and Cub Scout handbook includes a pamphlet to help parents teach their children how to recognize, resist and report abuse. For more information about youth protection, click on the National Capital Area Council Youth Protection Information link below.
